I visited the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlete Camp with Red Bull, where I interviewed their athlete, three times car rally world champion Andreas Mikkelsen. Read the article on Red Bull or below.
When three-time rallying world champ Andreas Mikkelsen decided to race his first elite triathlon, he picked the toughest one on earth. Reliving the pain, he breaks down his epic Norseman challenge.
I cycled any chance I got
My rally training counted for zero
It really was sink or swim
"It was so steep, I was in so much pain, I was exhausted. My legs had no energy. To run up the hill was unthinkable."Andreas Mikkelsen
My support crew were key
I had no real expectations – just to finish
My swim was surprisingly strong
Cycling had its ups and downs
I guess you've heard rumours about the Norseman weather.. it hasn't been like this for a while. In 2011, I got clear blue sky from Geilo (halfway into the bike course) and it got really really HOT on the run. My support crew had a bucket of ice cold water and gave me sponges all the way #lovedit 💕 Let's hope for a sunny #nxtri2017 ☀️ 📷: @lpstormo #preparewell #teamarctictriathlon #huubdesign #3atlet #tri365 #triatlon #roadcycling #stravacycling #grittygirl #visitnorwayusa
