With candid guests and empowering workshops, this is an event giving female adventurers a voice. We went to this year’s event in New York to hear what the people are saying…
1. Don’t be colourblind
#womencrushwednesday Meet Rachel out of Virginia Beach! She’s been climbing for three years and after initially being introduced to the sport by some of her high school friends, she rediscovered her interest in 2015. . “Representation is really important to me because I want other African Americans to realize that there is a place for them in the outdoors, I’ve personally dealt with a lot of comments and remarks from family friends and others about the fact that I Climb and and that it’s not something “we do”. I want to be able to go to a crag or trail and not get looks for being the ‘Black one.’ “ . Rachel’s favorite Crag snack is dried mango and her climbing heros include @meaganmartin89, Margo Hayes, and @meliseymo. She adds, “Watching them climb is so inspirational and makes me want push myself past my expectations “ . Thanks for sharing your story with us @rachel_manleyy #Repost @lkaleidoscope ・・・ Rachel focusing on her next move and being in the moment on Bathtub Mary (5.11a).
